A Heavenly Friday Five

dog-heaven-book.jpgI heard about Singing Owl and her sister, and I decided to do my first Friday Five.  As a dog, I have my own pretty good ideas about what is heavenly!

What is your idea of a heavenly (i.e. wonderful and perfect):

1. Family get-together
One where people pay a lot of attention to me, where I get a lot of pets, and where food drops on the floor!
2. Song or musical piece
I like the song with the humpback whales in it.  I don’t know what it’s called.  I just like it.  It makes me feel like sighing.
3. Gift
Squeaky toys rule!  Don’t tell Diane, but I really like food best of everything.  And oh, I like to give gifts too.  I like to give kisses, and licks, and I like to give something called “keeping company.”
4. You choose whatever you like-food, pair of shoes, vacation, house, or something else. Just tell us what it is and what a heavenly version of it would be.
Well, I don’t wear shoes, and any house is ok by me, as long as my people are there.  But a heavenly vacation would be a long car trip with my mom and dad, with lots of breaks for walks, and where I can meet lots of other dogs and people too!  Also, I like to smell lots of different smells.
5. And for a serious moment, or what would you like your entrance into the next life to be like?
What, from your vantage point now, would make Heaven “heavenly?”
In heaven there are no fences, and I can run as far as I want to, and still know the way home.  And they will be glad to see me when I come back.  They will open the door and let me come in, and they will come out and play all kinds of games with me, the kinds they make up and the kinds I make up too.  And we will play and play and play, and never get tired forever.

Scout, that was a great Friday Five! Thank you for playing. It made me smile, and #5 made me get teary eyed, a little. We had a sweet dog, a long time ago, that is wating for us to come join her and play games. My son, who was 17 when Cassie went to Heaven, had a dream about her and Jesus. It was cool.

Scout, I love your vision of heaven. I especially like no fences and lots of playing. For us humans it would be nice NOT to have vacuuming to do, so I think we are in agreement.

    Tummy rubs and ear skritches!

That is so sweet. We have a dog who roams and always come back… but sometimes it takes her a while and it is not always heaven to the humans. So definitely your humans not worrying about you needs to be in the equation!
