My Easter

I got a bath so that I would smell good.  I’m not sure what the big deal is about smelling good, but Mom seems to think it is important.

People came over one Day.  They ate food and petted me and played with me.  The Boy came over too.  It is always a good day when the Boy comes over.

No food fell on the floor.  Oh, well!  I still got dinner.

The next day I went to church, just to visit.  I met a few people.  One lady Mom particularly wanted me to meet.  At first I was shy, but after a little while I decided to let her scratch my tummy.

Her dog died recently.  She needed a tummy to scratch.  I was glad to do it.  It’s one of my jobs.

I wish people would realize that these things are important.  Dogs do.  We realize that one of our jobs is to let people scratch our tummies.

Oh Scout, what a beautiful and loving dog you are, taking your jobs so seriously and doing them well.

Plus you smell good. Humans are funny that way!

Scout, that is so gracious of you to let the human pet your tummy just because she needed to. Some of you dogs are real healers. I am so thankful for you and for all the dogs who look out for us humans.

Give a little snuggle to your guardian while you are smelling good.

Oh, that is wonderful, Scout. You are a very good and sweet-smelling pastoral care dog.

I would have commented sooner, but The Typist was off on some boat with Molly’s mom and Amie’s mom and Whistle and Fish’s mom and Tanner’s mom.

That’s okay, Cub. I wish I would be able to meet all of your and your dogs! Maybe we can all go on a cruise together someday!

You are good to let that poor lady scratch your tummy. You take your job seriously!
